well, it appears to be the start of a new year, a new decade. excellent!

2009 was something else. highs and lows and everything in between, just like every other year, but i like to think that with each year i live, there is something extraordinary about it. not just for me, but for everyone.

each year we learn more, work more, gain more, lose more, fight more, try more, question more — live more.

from every year i have been given thus far in my life, all two decades of it, i’ve recently been trying to make more sense of it. i’m working on finding my purpose, who i am, who i want to be. maybe one might call those resolutions.

i don’t really know how i feel about resolutions. i think the concept is good enough i suppose, but if it’s july and i want to make a change, i’d like to do that. a july resolution!

resolutions don’t need to be made only at the beginning of a new year.

when i was younger, i used to do a year synopsis or “[insert something here] of the year” kind of deal. well, i’m going to kind of change that up. there have been a few things that have made their way into my life and i just want to share them now, kind of as preparation for the year we are all about to embark on. this compilation includes lyrics, quotations, words, thoughts, stories, memories, and everything in between. it’s choppy, but i suppose you’ll just have to take it for what it is.

dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. this then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hears condemn us. for GOD is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. –1 john 3:18-20
