spanish, poetry, and dashboard confessional.

quiero escribir los poemas en español. pienso que lo intentará.

i was at books-a-million today for a good hour just perusing book shelves and it was absolutely wonderful. i love everything about new books — the smell, the feel, the noise you hear when you crack the spine for the first time — pure magic. i’m interested in getting some new poetry books, specifically some pablo neruda and maybe some jorges luís borges. the genre of spanish poetry holds some of the most beautiful works i have ever read.

recently, i’ve been listening to some real throwback stuff on the ipod — blink-182, dashboard confessional, relient k — rediscovering music is so great. i like throwback stuff. it makes me feel comfortable if that makes any sense at all.

hopefully all who read this have at least heard of the movie inception — well i saw it and it was incredible. one of the best movies i think i may have ever seen — fabulous cast, wonderful acting talent, excellent soundtrack, brilliant concept — nearly flawless. i highly recommend the film to any and everyone. christopher nolan, you never cease to amaze me with your cinematic complexities.

so, i leave for honduras sunday at 3am. i’m so excited! despite my zealous excitement, i’m kind of nervous because i really do not want to get sick. i’m taking my chloroquine malaria pills on schedule and whatnot, but i’m still going to be nervous about it until i get back to the states without ailment. we’re going to be doing some seriously awesome stuff down in tegucigalpa — i can’t wait to get back and share it with you all. i’m most excited about working with the kids, playing music with them, teaching them english, and just being with the people down there. this is going to be an incredible trip to say the least.

also while i’m down in honduras, i have to have a devotion prepared. i’ve got a few things in mind that i’d like to talk about, but i’ve been really intrigued with the book of 1 john:

“and so we know and rely on the love God has for us. GOD IS LOVE. whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him…there is no fear in love. but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. the one who fears is not made perfect in love. we love because HE FIRST LOVED US.”
(1 john 4:16-19)

how. fuhhhreaking. spectacular. GOD IS LOVE. that is so incredibly amazing to know that HIS love is made complete in us when He lives in us. i just find so much hope in that, it drives me insane.

life is so inspiring as of late. between this trip  and working and seeing old friends and spending time with a very nice boy (who i may or may not kind of sort of really like, so i secretly hope he doesn’t read this because then all of my “mysterious wonderment” will be vanquished), life is just really darn good.
